It was already evening when Sanjita draped the red saree around herself. The fabric clung softly to her curves as she parted her hair down the middle and tied it into a neat bun. A generous stroke of vermilion filled the partition — bright, bold, and full of promise. She traced her eyes with kohl and eyeliner, placed a tiny maroon bindi between her brows, and painted her lips a deep red that matched her saree.

When she adorned herself with the jewellery set, her reflection in the mirror made her heart skip. She looked beautiful — breathtaking even. And why not? She had made an extra effort tonight… for him.
